The Colorado River Basin Region is located in the most arid area of California. Despite the relatively dry climate, the Region contains some substantial surface water bodies, including the Colorado River and the Salton Sea. Many of the alluvial valleys in the Region are underlain by ground water aquifers that in many cases are the sole source of water for local areas.

The mission of the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership (APNEP) is to identify, protect, and restore the significant resources of the Albemarle-Pamlico estuarine system. APNEP pursues this mission with guidance and support from its overarching Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), advisory bodies and regional partners.

Dedicated to Community-Based Watershed Stewardship through Citizen Volunteer Monitoring. Alabama Water Watch (AWW) is a citizen volunteer, water quality monitoring program covering all of the major river basins in Alabama. AWW is a part of the Global Water Watch network.
