Since 2006, the IWRM MoMo (Integrated Water Resources Management – Model Region Mongolia) project has been working on the investigation and implementation of strategies towards an IWRM for the Kharaa catchment as a model region for Mongolia and Central Asia. The ? rst project phase (2006 to 2009) aimed at the analysis of the catchment characteristics, future development scenarios and management strategies. The ongoing second project phase (from 2010 until 2013) uses this information and works towards an improved scienti? c understanding of the regional preconditions for an IWRM, implements pilot measures in selected problem ? elds and intensi? ed the Capacity Development.
